Goreswar College is the soul premier institute of Higher Education in the North-eastern part of Baska District. It was established on the 29th day of August,1974 by a team of selfless and untiring social workers and lovers of education of the greater Goreswar locality.Betna Siksha and Krishi Unayan Sangha (Betna Education And Agriculture Development Organization) was a major pioneering force in the venture that provided funds to develop the required initial infrastructure for the college after it had functioned from temporary sites for sometime at the beginning.
Library: The central Library of the college has at present a stock of 20,573 books. The working hour of the library is from 10 A.M. to 4P.M. It has a good selection of books both syllabi-prescribed and other reference books.
Computer Centre: A computer lab with 15 Computers with Internet connectivity which provides various Computer Literacy and certificate courses in different programmes to the students of H.S. & TDC classes.
Book Bank: Goreswar college book bank is opened in the College Library in order to provide text books free of cost to the BPL students. Rules and regulations regarding the book bank can be obtained form the Librarian.
KKHSOU Study Center: This Study Center is offering various courses such as BPP, BA, BCA and M.A. in three subjects i.e. Assamese, Education and Political Science under K K Handiqui State Open University.
Free Text Books: Free text books are provided to the students seeking admission in H.S. 1st year or TDC 1st Semester securing First Division/Star Marks/Distinction in H.S.L.C. or H.S. Examination.
Xerox Facilities: Xerox facilities at concessional rate are provided to the users by the Library and IQAC of the college.
Library Facilities to School Students: To extend the service of Goreswar College Library for the benefit of the school students of Goreswar Locality it has been arranged to keep the College Library and reading room open
for the students of class IX and X on every Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM.
Remedial Classes: Remedial coaching classes for students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and minority communities have been introduced from the session 2009-2010 with the fund provided by UGC. The same will be started in the current session also provided UGC grant is received.
Coaching Classes for Entry in Services: UGC sponsored programmes to impart coaching to the students for preparing them to appear in competitive examinations seeking job opportunities are organized by the Cell for Coaching classes for Entry in Services. The facility is open to students belonging to SC/ST/ OBC/Minority Categories.
Career Counselling: UGC sponsored programme for preparing students for various examinations for employment in service and self employment are conducted by the Career Counselling Cell.
Spoken English Class: In view of the growing needs of acquiring proficiency in communicative English, Goreswar College is providing Spoken English Course through the UGC sponsored coaching for Entry in service programme.
College Canteen: The College has a canteen within its campus. It is supervised by a committee of Senior Professors and office staff. The canteen provides refreshment facilities to the students and the teachers of the college.
