The Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) offers Postdoctoral Fellowship Program for recent Ph.D. graduates .Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is now available on offer for citizens of any country .The aim of the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is to give a chance to the students to develop research tools, resources, and services while exploring new career opportunities.

CLIR Postdoctoral Fellows work on projects that forge and strengthen connections among library collections, educational technologies, and current research. Host institutions benefit from fellows’ field-specific expertise by gaining insights into their collections’ potential uses and users, scholarly information behaviors, and current teaching and learning practices.

CLIR is an independent, nonprofit organization that forges strategies to enhance research, teaching, and learning environments in collaboration with libraries, cultural institutions, and communities of higher learning.

This fellowship provides recent Ph.D. recipients a unique opportunity to develop as scholars, scientists, and teachers while learning about modern librarianship, digital resources, data stewardship, e-publishing, archives, and collection development.

Research Areas

The Postdoctoral Fellowship Program covers the following four areas.

Postdoctoral Fellowships in Academic Libraries : open to any discipline; designed and funded by hosts, who also pay fees to CLIR to cover the costs of fellows’ education
Postdoctoral Fellowships in Data Curation for the Sciences and Social Sciences : for recent PhDs with expertise in any aspect of the sciences and social sciences; educational benefits fully funded through CLIR for selected hosts and partial salary support for fellows in software curation for selected hosts
Postdoctoral Fellowships in Data Curation for Latin American and Caribbean Studies : for recent PhDs with expertise in any aspect of Latin American and Caribbean Studies; salaries and educational benefits fully funded through CLIR for selected hosts
Postdoctoral Fellowships in Data Curation for Energy Economics : for recent PhDs with expertise in any aspect of energy economics; educational benefits fully funded through CLIR for selected hosts and partial salary support for fellows in energy economics for selected hosts

What does it cover?

Remuneration varies by sponsoring institution and by type of fellowship; benefits and some travel expenses are routinely provided. Fellowships are for either one, two, or three years.

Fellows must reside at their sponsoring institution for the duration of the fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria

Postdoctoral Fellows must:

have received a Ph.D. no more than five years before applying, but before beginning the fellowship; be legally permitted to work in the United States and/or Canada between (next coming 2 years)
submit a complete application package, including all supporting documentation
All fellows must attend an intensive summer seminar before beginning their fellowship.(next to be held in July last – August 1st week of coming year at Bryn Mawr College.

a completed and submitted online application
a current curriculum vitae for the applicant
a document containing the applicant’s written responses to questions about their own research practices and the ways practices are changing in their fields
three letters of reference submitted by reference providers through the online application system
graduate school transcripts
