Tata Education and Development Trust, a philanthropic affiliate of India's Tata group provides scholarships to Indian students for their undergraduate studies at Cornell University, New York. A $25 million endowment has been established for the Tata Scholarship Fund for students going to Cornell. This annual scholarship will support approximately 20 scholars at any given time and will ensure that the very best Indian students have access to Cornell University, regardless of their financial circumstances. Selected students will receive the scholarship for the duration of their complete duration of undergraduate studies at the university.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Tata Scholarship at Cornell University for the undergraduate studies, a recipient must :

Preference will be given to qualified students accepted to the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning; the College of Engineering; the Applied Economics and Management major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences; and majors across colleges in the biological sciences, physical sciences, and other 'hard' sciences, as well as the social sciences.

Tata Scholarship fund is guaranteed for the number of semesters required for a student to complete an undergraduate degree. With the exception of the five-year program in architecture, which requires ten semesters of full-time enrollment, the fund will provide up to eight semesters of funding. Funding for additional semesters due to double majors or dual degrees is not available.

How to Apply for Tata Scholarship Fund at Cornell University

Undergraduate applicants will be eligible for consideration for the Tata Scholarship if they have completed the admission application and have applied for financial aid. All undergraduate applicants must apply for financial aid by completing the financial aid application process for international students.

International applicants must take the tests required of all applicants. These include SAT or ACT, and SAT Subject Tests (except those applying to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences or the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, where the SAT Subject Tests are not required).

International students for whom English is not the first language are required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. The recommended minimum scores are:
TOEFL- Score of 100 (Internet-based exam) and 600 (paper exam)
IELTS - Score of 7

The TOEFL and/or IELTS requirement for international applicants is waived for students achieving a score of at least 670 on the Critical Reading section of the SAT exam OR for students who have studied for at least four years in the U.S. or other nations where English is an official language. You can request a TOEFL waiver.

Please note that Cornell does NOT waive the TOEFL/ IELTS test requirement for students who have attended an English-speaking school in a non-English speaking country.
