Central Institute of Classical Tamil (CICT) Chennai, an Autonomous Institute, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, provides Post Doctoral Fellowships for eligible candidates. The aim of the award is to promote scholarship in Classical Tamil.

Provisions

The Post Doctoral Fellowship is for 2 years and will be paid a stipend of Rs 18,000/- per month with a contingency grant of Rs 30,000/- per annum.

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates with PhD in Literature, Linguistics, or allied disciplines such as Anthropology, Sociology, Education, Archaeology, Epigraphy, Musicology, Performing Arts, Folklore, Philosophy, etc with special emphasis to the period prior to 6th A.D. and also related to the 41
classical Tamil texts as prescribed by CICT are eligible to apply.

Age Limit: The candidate should not have exceeded 40 years of age. Age relaxation 3 years will be allowed for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Selection Procedure

The fellows will be selected through a written test followed by an interview. The decision of the Director, CICT is final in all matters related to the selection and award of Post Doctoral Fellowships including the number of fellowships to be given.

The selection is subject to the reservation policy as applicable

The selected candidates should undertake their research works in the CICT campus only.

Suitability and requirements for the ongoing projects and for the projects to be undertaken in the CICT will be considered in the selection process and the decision of the Director, CICT is final in this regard.

The completed application along with required documents may be sent to "The Registrar, Central Institute of Classical Tamil", IRT Campus, 100 Feet Road, Taramani, Chennai -600113

Documents required

Applications without required enclosures will not be considered. If incorrect or false information is given, the Application will be summarily rejected.

Note: Scholars who are in regular employment need not apply.
