Indian Institute of Science IISc, Bangalore was founded in 1909 and is today a top ranking Institution devoted to post graduate education and research in all branches of Science and Engineering. It has more than 40 departments, nearly 500 faculty and 2000 students on its campus.

The IISc offers Young Engineering Fellowship Programme (YEFP). It is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering students through a goal oriented Summer Mini- Project (SUMP) undertaken at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

Eligibility

Candidates pursuing III year of B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc.(Engg)/Integrated M.E./M.Tech. programme with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations, papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained, are encouraged to apply.

Period of the Project: The contact period for the project will be two months normally during May-July. However depending on the convenience, the selected candidates can undertake the project at any time subject to the availability of faculty. Further one can split the contact period into two parts and complete the project.

Financial Assistance

 •  YEFP offers a sum of Rs.6500 (maximum) for meeting expenses in connection with the reimbursement of Tuition Fees, purchase of books and other expenditure related to the project work.

 •  Second class to & fro Train/Bus fare by shortest route (one time only). 

 •  Free Board and Lodging (on Shared Basis) on the Campus during the Project Period 

Participating Departments : Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Centre for Electronics Design & Technology, Center for Product Design and Manufacturing, Computer Science & Automation, Electrical Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, High Voltage Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Supercomputer Education and Research Centre.

Application Procedure

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply using the web form available from the website of the institute along with the following documents to Deputy Registrar (Academic), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore 560 012 super scribing on the envelope 'Application for YEFP - (concerned year)'.Candidate can also apply online from the IISc website

 •   Original Study certificate from the Head of the Institution/Registrar of University 
 •  Attested Photocopies of the Marks cards issued by the University 
 •  Attested Photocopies of the Rank certificates, papers presented, design contests participated, projects executed, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad, any other awards/distinctions obtained etc. 
 •  Two page write-up on the intended project work at IISc.
