How to register for OET

Every candidate who takes the OET needs their own email address. Candidates can apply online for OET through the website www.occupationalenglishtest.org.

When you fill in the online application, it is necessary to enter all information accurately.

Your current national ID card (International test venues only) or passport number (All test venues) will be used for identification purposes at the test. If the identification you bring on the day of the test does not exactly match your online record or if it is no longer current, you will not be allowed to sit.
If you are sitting the test in Australia, you MUST provide your current, valid passport as identification - no other type of photo ID will be accepted; this includes Travel Documents.
If you will be unable to present a current national ID card or passport on test day for whatever reason, you MUST contact the OET Centre by submitting an online enquiry NO LATER than three weeks before the test.
The address in our database will appear on your Statement of Results exactly as you enter it, and is where your results will be sent. If it is not correct, you may not get your Statement of Results. If you need another copy of your results, a fee will be charged.

To apply for the OET, you need

a suitable digital photo. The photo guidelines are given on the first page of the application process
to know your current identification document (passport) number and ensure that this ID document will be current on the test day.
If you are paying online, you need a Visa or MasterCard credit card [not a debit card].

Preparing for OET

OET practice materials are available at the website www.occupationalenglishtest.org. Candidates can download it. Additional practice materials can be ordered from the OET Bookshop.

There are various study centers for OET preparation all over the world. The preparation courses will not improve the overall level of English, but will improve the exam techniques and strategies which helps to get the best score.

Cost of OET

The cost of the OET is different depending on where you sit the test. All prices are in Australian dollars. All prices in Australia include GST. New candidates must sit all 4 sub-tests. Effective 01 June 2010, a booking fee of $7.00 will be applied to the total of all applications.

OET Test Centers

The OET is administered in many locations around the world.

Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi are the usual OET Test centers in India. If you don’t see test centre near you, it is probably because they haven’t experienced enough demand in that area. Contact OET center through their online Enquiry page if you would like to sit the OET in a city not currently listed.

Precise venue details and timetable will be sent to the candidate by email approximately two weeks before the test date. The candidates should also regularly check the OET website for important announcements.
