To be eligible to write ISAT, the candidates must be an Indian citizen. For the candidates belonging to GEN, OBC categories, the age limit is 25 years and in case of SC, ST and PD it is 30 years. The date of birth as recorded in the high school/first Board/ Pre-University certificate/or its equivalent will be accepted. If the certificate does not mention the date of birth, candidate must submit at the time of counseling/admission an authenticated document indicating the date of birth.
Qualifying Examination (QE)
The candidates must have passed the Qualifying Examination for the first time, in the academic calendar of the year of examination, provided the results are available before 1 July of the exam year. Those who are going to appear in the QE or expecting the results of QE later than July 1 are not eligible to apply for ISAT.
The Qualifying examinations are :
In case the relevant qualifying examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination at an earlier level.
Minimum Percentage of Marks in Class X or equivalent examination : Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination, while, those belonging to SC,ST and PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in aggregate in their Class X or equivalent examination.
Minimum Percentage of Marks in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination : Candidates belonging to GEN and OBC categories must secure at least 70% marks in the aggregate in their Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) papers in their QE, while, those belonging to SC,ST and PD categories must secure at least 60% marks in the aggregate in their PCM papers in their QE.
For both Class X and 10 +2 examinations, the percentage of marks awarded by the Board will be treated as final. If the Board provides the equivalent percentage of marks against grades, then the candidate has to base his/her calculations in percentage. If a Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks as percentages (total aggregate in Class X and PCM for Class 10 +2), and submit it at the time of counseling. Candidates should produce equivalence certificate if required at the time of counseling.
Reservation :
Reservation of seats is as per Government of India rules. Candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are: Scheduled Castes (SC); Scheduled Tribes (ST); Other Backward Castes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL); Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.
Benefit of reservation shall be given only to those castes/ tribes which are recognized by the Government of India and are included in the respective central list published by the Department of Personnel and Training.
