M.B.A examination is of 2 hours duration consisting of 100 objective questions with 5 options and carries a maximum of 100 marks (i.e 1 mark for every correct answer). For every wrong answer one fifth (1/5) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. Multiple shading will also be considered as wrong answer and 1/5 mark will be deducted.

The question paper of MBA will have sections

i) To evaluate the candidate's ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations.
ii) To evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension.
iii) To evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level (including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level).
iv) To test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of Mathematics and use of day - to - day facts.
v) To test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.

M.C.A examination is of 2 hours duration consisting of 100 objective questions with 4options and carries a maximum of 100 marks (i.e 1 mark for every correct answer). For every wrong answer one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted. Multiple shading will also be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted.

The question paper of MCA will have the following sections:

i) Quantitative Ability
ii) Analytical reasoning
iii) Logical reasoning
iv) Computer awareness A few questions may also be on verbal activity, basic science etc.

M.E./M.Tech./M.Arch./M.Plan entrance test is of 2 hours duration and has three common parts namely, Part-I , Part-II and Part III. Part-I and Part-II are compulsory and under Part-III the candidates have to choose any one section out of 14 depending upon his/her specialisation.
Part- I (Engineering Mathematics) - Consist of 30 questions carrying 30 marks with 4 options. 1/4 mark will be deducted for wrong answer. Multiple shading will also be considered as wrong answer.
Part-II (Basic Engg. & Sciences) - Consist of 45 questions carrying maximum 30 marks with 4 options. 1/4 mark will be deducted for wrong answer. All the correct answers up to 30 will be awarded marks and all the wrong answers shall be taken into consideration for awarding negative marks. Multiple shading will be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted.
Part- III meant for different disciplines. - Consist of 40/45 questions carrying maximum 40 marks with 4 options. 1/4 mark will be deducted for wrong answer. All the correct answers up to 40 will be awarded marks and all the wrong answers shall be taken into consideration for awarding negative marks.Multiple shading will be considered as wrong answer and 1/4 mark will be deducted.

On evaluation, the mean (m) mark and the standard deviation (s) of marks (raw marks) may vary from discipline to discipline under Part - III. Normalised marks are obtained using the formula: Normalised marks = 50 + (10/s) (raw mark – m). This gives the relative ranking of the candidate in any discipline.

Note : No Marks will be deducted for the questions left unanswered.

Categories of Candidates for M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan.

The candidates applying for admission to full time M.E. / M.Tech. / M.Arch. / M.Plan. degree programmes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Planning will be categorised as given below.

i) GATE-A Category: Candidates who have a valid GATE score in the appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology.
ii) GATE-B Category: Candidates who have a valid GATE score in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers. Candidates under this category must also appear for TANCET.
iii) Non-GATE Category
(a) Candidates who have qualified in GATE and are willing to be considered under non- GATE category also must appear for TANCET.
(b) Candidates who have not qualified in GATE ‘A’ Examination must appear for TANCET.
