Institute for Plasma Research (IPR) is a premier scientific institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India provides Junior Research Fellowship for highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the broad areas of experimental and theoretical plasma physics.
Research Areas
The Institute offers research and development activities in the areas of Basic Plasma Physics, Magnetic Confinement fusion and Industrial applications of plasmas.
Provisions
The Fellows will receive a stipend of Rs.25000/- per month and will increased to Rs 28000/- per month after two years subject to satisfactory academic review. The fellowship also includes a book grant of Rs 22000/- per year; free accommodation & medical facility at a nominal charge. Students may also be supported partially for attending conferences abroad during their PhD tenure
As hostel facility is limited on the ACTREC campus it is available on first come, first served basis. If hostel facility is not allotted the fellow will also get 30% HRA per month.
The candidates should have M.Sc in Physics or Engineering Physics or Applied Physics with 60% aggregate marks. Students must have Physics and Mathematics at the Under Graduate level. Candidates expecting a Master's degree in any one of the above subjects can also apply.
Age limit : Candidate should be not more than 26 years as on 1st August.
Age relaxation of five years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC applicants and 10 years for Physically Handicapped Persons (PHP) of all categories as per Govt. of India orders on the subject.
Selection:
The candidates who satisfy the eligibility criterion and have qualified in any of the written text - JEST- (in Physics)/ GATE in Physics (Paper code PH) / CSIR-UGC-JRFNET in Physical Sciences (Subject code PHY) will be short listed and call for a personal interview. Candidates selected for interview will be paid to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare via the shortest route.
