The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) offers fellowships to scholars to pursue research in (i) India: Recent Historical Trends and Developments (ii) India in Transition: Issues and Challenges (iii) India and the Wider World.
Fellowship Details
The fellowships are offered for a duration of two years and at three levels : Junior Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow.
Fellows will be based in Delhi except for a maximum of five fellows of the total strength who may be permitted by the Selection Committee to be based outside Delhi.
The fellows will receive emoluments, including allowances, will correspond to that of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor of Central Universities, respectively. CPF/GPF facilities will be extended only to scholars having permanent jobs in Government/Government funded Institutions who take up the Fellowship after taking leave without pay from their parent institutions. All the selected Fellows would be required to undertake their research work/project by making NMML as their base. They will be allowed the study tour/s after obtaining approval.
Fellows will also be paid an amount equal to the annual increment in post in parent department according to the dates when it will falls due to the fellows there.
Senior Fellows/Fellows will get a contingent expense up to the ceiling limit of Rs 30,000/- per annum, whereas the contingent expenses for the Junior Fellows will be up to the ceiling limit of Rs 25,000/- per annum, for traveling, purchasing of stationery, books (not available in our Library), typing, photocopying, etc.
The claims may be submitted by the Fellows in the prescribed proforma along with supporting cash memos, receipts/details of expenditure every month to the office for reimbursement.
The date of commencement of the Fellowship will be when the Fellow submits a joining report to the competent authority.
Senior Fellow: These positions are open to eminent scholars who have made a significant contribution to the knowledge in their respective fields and have experience of conducting and guiding research.
Fellow: Candidates with Good academic record, a Ph.D. or equivalent published work and at least five years experience in teaching/post doctoral research .
Junior Fellow: Candidates should have a good academic record and/or scholarly publications, and preferably a Ph.D. degree.
Interested scholars are required to send their applications after duly filling them along with a write-up of about 2,000 words on the proposed project to be undertaken. The filled in application form should be sent to the e-mail id: fellowship.nmml@gov.in on or before the deadline.
The application form may be downloaded from this site. Applications received after the last date will not be considered. Members of the Selection Committee, NMML Society, Executive Council, and NMML staff cannot be a referee.
