The Women Scientist Division at Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE), under its STARS (Students with Talent and Aptitude for Research in Science) program, has launched a scheme that aims to promote Research in Science among students through the award of scholarships for toppers in science subjects at higher secondary level for pursuing higher education in Science. Named as the Pratibha Scholarship, the scheme identifies and nurtures students who have qualified in Higher Secondary Board Examination from Kerala, with 90% and above or equivalent grade.

Eligibility

(i) Applicant should be of Kerala origin.

(ii) Applicant should have qualified Higher Secondary Examination from Kerala.

(iii) Applicant should have qualified Higher Secondary Board Examination with minimum 90% marks or equivalent grade for all subjects put together and minimum 90% marks or equivalent grade for all Science subjects put together.(For SC/ST reservation category, the eligibility is stipulated to minimum marks of 80% or equivalent grade for all subjects in total and minimum 80% marks or equivalent grade for all Science subjects in total).

(iv) Applicant should have secured admission for 3 year B.Sc. / 5 year Integrated M.Sc. / 5 year Integrated BS-MS course in Basic or Natural Science (23 subjects enlisted in the ‘guidelines’) in any of the Institutions or Universities in India in 2022-23.

1st Year - 12,000/-
2nd Year - 18,000/-
3rd Year - 24,000/-
P.G. Course (subject to scoring minimum 75% marks for Undergraduate course)
1st Year/ 4th Year of Integrated P.G. Course - 40,000/-
2nd Year/ 5th Year of Integrated P.G. Course - 60,000/-

When to apply

These scholarships will be awarded only after admission to the Degree course in the colleges is finalized.

The students may apply through the College/Academic institution in which they have joined for B.Sc. Degree /Integrated M.Sc. Degree course.

Period of  Submission of Application: February (The KSCSTE will issue yearly notification to this effect)

Features

Disbursement of Scholarship

The selected student should have a valid bank account in any of the nationalized banks. On sanction of the Scholarship, the selected students will be asked to furnish Bank account details and also Certificate of status verification forwarded by the Head of the Institution where the student is undergoing Under-graduate course.  The selected students should also submit the 'Terms & Conditions', duly signed by them and countersigned by the Head of the Institution for release of Scholarship by the Council.

Check list of Documents to be attached with the Application

1. Age proof of the applicant

2. Attested copies of HSE certificate and Mark list

3. Community Certificate for SC/ST applicants

4. Certificate in proof of place of origin

5. Application form duly filled in and signed by the candidate, forwarded by the Head of the Institution where the candidate is currently undergoing the Degree course

Attested copies of any one of the following 3 documents could be considered for this purpose.

1. 1st page of S.S.L.C Book

2. Birth Certificate

3. Nativity Certificate
