Australia provides some of the world's most rigorous consumer protection mechanisms for international students through the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework. Under the ESOS legislation, institutions who wish to offer courses to international students studying on a student visa must first meet requirements for registration on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Each registered institute and the courses they can offer to international students gets unique CRICOS provider and course codes respectively. An Australian student visa can only be granted to undertake a CRICOS registered course.

Australia provides limitless opportunities for international students to explore their future. The country offers a diverse range of study options for international students, with more than 1,100 institutions and 22,000 courses to choose from science to management and commerce, humanities to engineering, and law to health sciences. In Australia, it is quite common for students to enroll in a double or combined Bachelor Degree program which leads to the award of two Bachelor Degrees. This is most common in the fields of arts, commerce, law and science.

Students can choose from a wide variety of Australian universities and education institutions to suit their specific needs and goals. Each higher education institution has its own strengths and areas of specialisation.
