The TOEFL test (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a registered trademark of Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is the most accepted English-language test in the world. TOEFL scores are accepted at more than 8,000 colleges/ universities in 130 countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.

The TOEFL scholarship program is designed to award TOEFL test takers for achieving academic excellence, exhibiting leadership skills, performing extracurricular activities and demonstrating English-communication proficiency. The TOEFL scholarship program can help the test taker to study at the university of their choice.

Currently, the TOEFL scholarships are available to the test takers residing in China, India, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The TOEFL Scholarship Program rewards students who have high academic achievement as well as :

  •   an outstanding ability to communicate in English
  •   demonstrated leadership skills
  •   well-roundedness in extracurricular activities, including community service
  •   innovative ideas as reflected in essays (and interviews, when applicable)

A total of ten TOEFL scholarships will be awarded to Indian students for pursuing undergraduate or graduate study at a college or university listed in the TOEFL® Destinations Directory (PDF). Each Scholorship valued at US$7,000.

Eligibility

TOEFL scholarships will be awarded to students in India who meet the following requirements:

  •   Must be currently living in India.
  •   Must begin undergraduate or graduate study at a college/ university listed in the TOEFL Destinations Directory (PDF).
  •   Must hold a grade point average (GPA) of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale or 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  •   Must have a valid TOEFL score.
  •   Must return a completed application form with their TOEFL test scores, written essay and official transcript in a sealed envelope.

TOEFL Scholarship award funds are applied to the candidates tuition fees only. The scholarship fund will disburse, after the student visa has been approved and they have registered with the institution and arrived on campus.

Application and Selection Details

One can apply to TOEFL scholarships only after they have received the TOEFL scores. Since TOEFL scores are valid for two years, previous years TOEFL score can also be used for applying to the current TOEFL Scholarship.

To apply for a TOEFL scholarship, the candidates must need the following documents :

• A minimum TOEFL® test score of 75 out of 120
• An admission offer letter from a UK university for Fall 2024/Spring 2025

The successful recipients of the UK-India TOEFL Scholarship will act as TOEFL ambassadors during their studies, promoting the program and sharing their experiences. Interested students can find detailed information and application procedures on the official ETS website or NISAU website. The application window will open on 1st April, 2024 and close on 15th July, 2024.

Scholarship winners will be invited to a scholarship ceremony and media conference, and will be invited to give testimonials and participate in media interviews.
