Australian University, The University of Wollongong (UOW) in partnership with the Bradman Foundation offers one undergraduate Scholarship to an Indian student each year. The Scholarship is open to both males and females and is granted for the duration of their undergraduate program and at the end of each year, another scholar is chosen. The University of Wollongong Bradman Foundation Scholarship has been established to provide that opportunity for educational advancement of a young Indian person. The scholarship will be awarded who has completed secondary school and who demonstrates a combination of academic, sporting, personal and social skills, as well as strong participation in cricket.
UOW is one of Australia’s leading universities, recognized in the top two percent of the world’s universities in the two main rankings (QS and The Times Higher Education). Its main campus and its Innovation Campus research and development precinct are located in the coastal city of Wollongong, one hour south of Sydney in the State of New South Wales. Bradman Foundation is a charitable trust established in 1987 with the blessing of the world’s greatest-ever cricketer, Sir Donald Bradman, to promote cricket as a cultural and sporting force.
The UOW Bradman Scholarship is to support study at the University of Wollongong to a student who has already received an unconditional offer of a place in a UOW course. The UOW Bradman Scholar must maintain full-time enrolment for the duration of his/her UOW course. Applicants are advised to visit the UOW website at uow.edu.au to view available courses.
Scholarship Amount :
UOW will give the UOW Bradman Scholar a 50 percent waiver of tuition fees for the duration of their chosen degree - making the scholarship worth many thousands of dollars.
In order to be eligible for consideration, a candidate must:
a) have turned eighteen prior to the commencement of the relevant UOW
course;
b) be an Indian citizen who is currently residing in India;
c) have completed his or her secondary education at an Indian school to
the following minimum levels :
- For the Indian School Certificate (ICSE) and the Central Board of Secondary
Education
(CBSE), minimum 70% average in the best four academic subjects;
- For other Indian approved state boards, as listed at ttp://mhrd.gov.in/recognized_boards,
minimum 77% average in the best four academic subjects;
d) have an unconditional letter of offer from UOW to enroll in a UOW course,
and satisfy all entry conditions for that course;
e) have a club or higher level of participation as a player in the sport
of cricket
In addition to the eligibility criteria, the Bradman Foundation and UOW will consider how the candidate meets the purpose and selection criteria of the UOW Bradman Foundation Scholarship.
The purpose of the UOW Bradman Scholarship is to provide an opportunity to a person living in India to study at UOW.
The selection criteria of the UOW Bradman Scholarship include whether the candidate:
Selection Process
Representatives of the Bradman Foundation and UOW will form a joint selection committee to consider applications. The joint selection committee will consider those eligible applications against the selection criteria, and at their discretion that joint selection committee shall select the successful candidate for that calendar year to UOW.
All applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.
Terms and Conditions
In order to be awarded the UOW Bradman Scholarship, the successful candidate must enter into a scholarship agreement with UOW, which is anticipated to require the Scholar to:
a) abide by relevant UOW codes of conduct, polices and regulations;
b) pay the balance of tuition fees not covered by the UOW Bradman Scholarship
by the required census date for the relevant session of study at UOW;
c) sremain enrolled at UOW throughout the relevant UOW course, and maintain
a credit average (weighted average mark 65+) throughout their studies
at UOW. If the Scholar fails to do so, the UOW Bradman Scholarship may
be terminated by UOW;
d) maintain a high standard of conduct and bearing at all times as a UOW
Bradman Scholar who is representing the Bradman Foundation and UOW;
e) authorize UOW to send a written report to the Bradman Foundation at
the end of each academic year with details of the Scholar’s progress;
f) after completing the UOW Bradman Scholarship, continue to represent
the Bradman Foundation and UOW as a past Scholar from time to time at
Bradman Foundation and UOW functions;
g) agree to not bring the name of the UOW Bradman Scholarship, Sir Donald
Bradman, the Bradman Foundation or UOW into disrepute at any time. Any
breach of this requirement may result in a review of the Scholar’s
position, and a decision by the Bradman Foundation and UOW on whether
the Scholarship should be terminated with that Scholar
If the Scholar fails an academic year or decides to discontinue his/hers studies then the Scholarship is deemed to be cancelled.

UOW and the Bradman Foundation will retain all applications until the joint selection committee has selected the successful person for that year’s UOW Bradman Scholarship.
If an applicant wants their application to be returned to them after the scholarship selection is complete, the applicant must include a self addressed, prepaid envelope so that the application can be returned to the applicant.
UOW and the Bradman Foundation may retain any applications not returned to applicants, and may contact those applicants with other information that may be of interest.
All applicants must submit hard copies (not originals) of the following documents in the order below, preferably in some form of protective sleeve. Original documents should not be sent.
1. Application form
Must be completed in full giving all current information, and be signed
and dated by the applicant
2. Letter of application - limit 500 words;
This should be a brief summary of the applicant’s life, education
and employment (if relevant); personal and career goals; particular hobbies
and interests, and what being a UOW Bradman Scholar would mean personally.
This letter is a means of informing the joint selection committee of the
applicant’s suitability as a UOW Bradman Scholar as well as an opportunity
to demonstrate communication skills and satisfaction of the selection
criteria.
3. History of Education and Employment
This information must be in summary dot point form only under headings
such as Secondary and Tertiary Education, Record of Employment, any other
School and Community Achievements etc.
4. Certificates of Academic Record
All certificates must be placed in chronological order, and should support
the eligibility and selection criteria outlined above.
5. Any other relevant awards, certificates or achievements

chronological order, and should support the eligibility and selection
criteria outlined above.
6. One reference regarding the applicant’s participation in cricket
– 1 page only
This reference must identify the name, title, club or school and contact
number of the referee at the top of the page. The referee must comment
on his or her personal knowledge of the applicant’s cricketing skills
7. One reference regarding the applicant’s character – 1
page only
This reference must be from a person who knows the applicant personally
8. One reference regarding the applicant’s academic achievements
– 1 page only
This reference must clearly identify the name, title and contact number
of the referee at the top of the page.
9. Birth Certificate and/or Naturalization Certificate
A copy of the applicant’s birth certificate or documentation of
Australian Citizenship must be included. These documents should be certified
by a Justice of the Peace. Do not send original documents.
10. Personal photograph
The applicant must include a recent photograph of themselves in either
colour or black and white. This photograph should be no larger than 13cm
x 18cm (5” x 7”)
11. Proof of residency in India;
The applicant must provide documented proof that they reside in India.
12. A copy of the unconditional letter of offer from UOW to the applicant
13. If under 18 at the time of application, consent from parent or guardian
