Indian students doing an internship at a
German institution
DAAD Working Internships in Science and Engineering (WISE) Scholarship programme is for the Indian students who wish to do an internship at a German higher education institution or at a research institute. Students pursuing Bachelor degree/ Dual degree/ integrated programmes in subjects like engineering, mathematics, natural sciences etc. from selected Indian universities can apply for scholarship for 2-3 months internship.
DAAD WISE Scholarship Value
The duration of the funding is 2 to 3 months in the period between May and July. Internships of less than two months duration cannot be supported.
The scholarships is funded for research internship at a public or state-recognised higher education institution or a non-university research institute in Germany to work with doctoral students, scientists or professors as part of on-going research projects.
Students who have been awarded a WISE scholarship previously cannot apply again.
Other requirements and Conditions :
The applicant has to independently search for a German professor/ guide,
under which they could carry out their research.
Internships at private research institutes or companies are not eligible.
At the time of application, the applicant should already be in possession
of a valid passport. The name on the application form should be identical
with the one in the passport.
It is not possible to draw funding from other German scholarship-awarding
organisations or from other German public authorities simultaneously with
a DAAD scholarship.
The application procedure occurs online through the DAAD portal. Candidates are also required to send one copy of the 'Application summary' (PDF file), which is generated in the DAAD portal after the online application procedure has been completed, and a reference from an Indian university teacher by post to the application address.
Please note that the first and last name filled in the application form should be identical to the name in the passport.

The announcement of the scholarships are usually published in the month of August. The deadline for submission of applications is 1st November.
The review of applications and selection process is based upon academic achievements.
The results will be announced by beginning of February and the internship period is between May- July.
