Malabar Cancer Centre, Thalassery offers institutional Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Oncology for those individuals who want to pursue their professional career in the field of Gastro Intestinal (GI) Oncology. Malabar Cancer Centre is an autonomous institution under Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Kerala .This is being developed as a teaching institution to train doctors, nurses and other paramedical personnel in various fields of oncology. The concept of oncology is very much important for a proper management of cases, which inturn decides the quality management of cancer.
The aim of the fellowship program is to provide the training in the areas of basic as well as interdisciplinary management, complex oncologic procedures and research. This additional expertise emphasizes critical analysis of clinical problems and development of additional skills in the performance of techniques required for the practice of this subspecialty, including consultation skills and multidisciplinary treatment planning, with emphasis in basic and clinical research methodologies. It has another great vision of providing more expert cancer specialists to the society in order to provide a better quality management of disease for the people even in the lower levels of community.
The course is planned for more specialized training in GI oncology after MCh/DNB in surgical oncology/gastroenterology or MS/DNB in general surgery . This course is aimed at creating more refined and qualified professionals who would like to dedicate themselves in teaching and practice of GI oncology.
Subjects covered:
a) Gastrointestinal oncology
b) Oncopathology
c) Radiation and medical
oncology relevant to the field
d) Research
e) Community Oncology
Two candidates will be selected per year for the course.
Fellowship amount
Stipend of Rs.47, 000/- per month will be given.
The candidate would spend at least 10 months in the Surgical Oncology unit
Duration
One year
Age: Candidates should not be above 40 years as on 1st October (current year).
Selection Procedure
The selection will be based on written Test/Personal interview.
No TA/DA will be paid for the Interview/Written test.
Claims in respect of Qualifications, Experience, etc. should be supported by copies of relevant documents; candidates may be required to produce the originals at the time of Written Test/Interview.
